I’m publishing a summary record of basic things you can do to solve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care, because several readers come up with their computer reacting slowly.
Perhaps the most important contributor to a badly performing computer is malware. Usually this is associated with downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security options high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security sections regularly.
Step 1. Revise the definitions of your antivirus and operate a full scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Notice that some infections require additional steps until they can be removed; generally a websearch will locate specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the Bc forums to request assistance, if you cannot find a solution.
Step 2. You have recently downloaded an application, and if the slowness is unanticipated, the issue might live there. Check this by entirely removing it. A user will generally perform a web search about the program before downloading it because in most instances, any potential trouble with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can drastically impact your computer’s operation, and these are throughout the Internet. A very recent study indicated that one out of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains feature at least one bit of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Seasoned users will routinely run two or three of the programs, because each business has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own set. (A set of very great, free anti-spyware applications is supplied by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next step.
Step 4. Review programs that self-start on startup. You computer may become a arena for your interest. Many programs, for instance, install a fast-start feature that permits them to be opened swiftly; other programs will include an automatic update feature that requires them to be running in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each requires a small bit of resources while your personal computer is running.
The easiest method to review and than to manage start ups would be to-use one of the numerous small resources available (see the Bc list of free apps). You may use its startup tool that lists startups and lets you to show off any you usually do not want, if, for example, you have Spybot Search and Destroy. If you are unsure about what may be safely deleted, remember that Bc maintains a quite complete Startup Database that contains information about whether the item is required, discretionary, or not needed.
At the same time, remember that all those icons on your own Desktop also take a small number of boot time to set themselves.
Absence of Maintenance
Step 5. Delete unused applications and exchange old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files which you have opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for the old printer you threw away last year—these are some types of files you can delete.
(Note for advanced users: some experts would comprise the added upkeep step of cleaning the Windows registry, and you’ll find plenty of applications to help do that. For the most part, registry maintenance will not make a significant difference, and unless you are really comfortable with Windows, and carefully make backups of the registry, you can do serious damage by making registry modifications, so this measure isn’t included
Step 6. Have it fix Windows Xp System Error 1231 Has Occurred.
Stage 7. Defragment your pc.
Hopefully, now that you have have concluded, you will find a marked enhancement in pc operation.
