Perhaps the most important contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Usually this is related to downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security settings large enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security areas regularly.
Stage 1. Update the explanations of your anti virus and operate a complete scan of your hard drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some viruses need extra measures before they can be removed; ordinarily a web search will find specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the BC forums to request support, if you cannot find a solution.
Step 2. If the slowness is unexpected, and you have recently downloaded an application, the problem might dwell there. Check this by entirely eliminating it. A sensible user will usually perform a websearch about the program before installing because in most instances, any possible problem with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.

Revise the definitions of your antispyware programs and check your hard drives in Safe Mode. Experienced customers will frequently operate several of these programs, because each business has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own set. Stage 4. Review programs that self-start on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for example, install a quick-launch feature that allows them to be exposed fast; other programs may include an automated update feature that demands them to be running in the background. Each of these slows down your launching Windows and each needs a little bit of sources while your computer is running.
The easiest way to review and than to manage start-ups would be to utilize one of many little resources available (see the Bc list of free programs). You may use its startup tool that lists startups and allows you to show off any you usually do not want, if, for instance, you have Spybot Search and Destroy. Remember that Bc maintains a quite complete Startup Database that includes information about whether the inquired item is required, elective, or unnecessary, if you are uncertain about what can be safely removed.
At-the same time, remember that those icons in your Desktop also take a modest number of boot time to place themselves.
Lack of Upkeep
Step 5. Delete unused applications and exchange old files to your CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files that you have previously opened, applications you haven’t found in two years, software for that old printer you put away last year—these are a few examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for advanced users: some professionals would include the additional upkeep step of cleaning the Windows registry, and you will find plenty of programs to assist try this. For the most part, registry care won’t make a significant difference, and unless you’re quite comfortable with Windows, and carefully make backups of-the registry, you may do significant damage by creating registry modifications, so this step isn’t contained
Stage 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Vista Mui Problem.
Stage 7. Defragment your personal computer. Windows will put new documents in any available open space; defragging will set affiliated sections of files closer together so your read arm has less going around the hdd to do, saving wear-and tear while speeding up applications.
