Maybe the most important contributor to a badly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Revise the definitions of your anti-virus and operate a complete scan of your drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable problems. Notice that some viruses need additional measures until they could be removed; typically a web search will find specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the BC forums to request support, if you fail to find a solution.
Step 2. If the sluggishness is sudden, and you’ve recently downloaded an application, the problem might dwell there. Test this by totally removing it. A user will usually perform a websearch about the program before installing because in most instances, any potential problem with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Action three. Adware and Spyware can dramatically impact your computer’s performance, and these are all over the Internet.
Experienced customers will often operate 2 or 3 of these applications, because each business has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own established. (A set of quite good, free anti spyware applications is given by BC). Again, solve any open issues before continuing to the next step.

Many programs, for example, install a quick-start feature that permits them to be exposed swiftly; other programs may contain an automated update feature that demands them to be running in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each requires a little bit of assets while your computer is running.

Stage 5. Delete unused programs and transfer old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files which you have previously opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for that old printer you put away last year—these are some examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for advanced level users: some experts would include the added upkeep step of cleaning up the Windows registry, and there are plenty of applications to assist try this. For the most part, registry care won’t make a significant difference, and unless you are quite comfy with Windows, and cautiously make backups of the registry, you can do severe damage by creating registry changes, so this step is not included
Stage 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Vista Loses Wireless Connection Won’t Reconnect.
Step 7. Defragment your pc. Windows tends to put new files in any available open space; defragging will place related sections of files closer together therefore your read arm has less going around the hard drive to do, saving wear-and tear while boosting up plans.
