Because several readers come up with their computer reacting slowly, I am submitting a summary checklist of general steps you can take to solve the Symantec Installissue, and briefly discussing the three most frequent causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of maintenance.
Malware
Maybe the greatest factor to a badly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading a software that includes spyware, by not having browser security settings high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security areas regularly.
Step 1. Revise the explanations of your antivirus and run a complete scan of your drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some viruses need additional steps until they may be removed; typically a web search will find specific directions or a particular removal tool. Use the BC forums to request help, if you can’t find a answer.
Step 2. You’ve recently saved an application, and if the slowness is abrupt, the issue might live there. Check this by entirely removing it. A sensible user will normally perform a websearch about the application before downloading it because in most cases, any possible difficulty with malware or poor performance will have surfaced.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can dramatically impact your personal computer’s operation, and these are throughout the World wide web. A very recent research indicated that one out-of every 20 executable files on Web sites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one bit of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Seasoned users will often operate two or three of the applications, because each company has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own set. (A listing of really good, free antispyware programs is given by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next step.
Uncontrolled Applications
Stage 4. Evaluation programs that self-launch on startup. You pc can become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for instance, install a rapid-start feature that allows them to be exposed immediately; other programs will comprise an automated update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Each of these slows down your launch Windows and each needs a little bit of resources while your computer is running.
Remember that Bc maintains a very complete Startup Database that includes information about whether the item is required, optional, or not needed, if you are uncertain about what could be safely removed.
At the same time, remember that those symbols in your Background also take a modest number of trunk time to put themselves.
Lack of Upkeep
Stage 5. Cleanup your hard drive (preparation for Stage 7). Delete unused programs and transfer old files to your CD. Unplayed games, lots of family images, zipped files which you have opened, applications you have not found in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are a few examples of files you can delete.
(Note for sophisticated users: some specialists would contain the additional upkeep step of cleaning up the Windows registry, and there are several apps to assist try this. For the most part, so this measure isn’t included, you can do serious harm by creating registry modifications, registry maintenance will not make a significant difference, and unless you are really comfy with Windows, and carefully make backups of-the registry
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Symantec Install.
Action 7. Defragment your computer. Windows will set new documents in any available open space; defragging will place related sections of files closer together therefore your read arm has less travelling around the hard drive to do, saving wear and tear while racing up plans.
Hopefully, now that you have have finished, you’ll see a marked enhancement in computer operation.
