Because several readers reveal their computer responding slowly, I’m publishing a summary listing of general things you can do to resolve the Stop: C0000135 The Programissue, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care.
Maybe the most important factor to a poorly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Revise the explanations of your antivirus and run a complete scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some infections require additional measures until they can be removed; usually a websearch will locate specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the Bc forums to request help, if you can’t find a solution.
Step Two. If the slowness is unexpected, and you’ve recently downloaded an application, the problem might dwell there. Test this by totally removing it. A sensible user will normally perform a internet search about the application before installing because in most instances, any possible issue with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Stage three. Adware and Spyware can radically impact your personal computer’s operation, and these are throughout the Net.
Experienced users will routinely run two or three of these applications, because each business has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own set. (A record of really good, free anti spyware applications is given by BC). Again, solve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
For additional reading about Malicious software and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the programs have very great Help files that explain how they function too as the special features of each.
Stage 4. Evaluation apps that self-start on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for instance, install a fast-start feature that permits them to be exposed immediately; other programs will contain an automatic update feature that demands them to be working in the background. Each of these slows down your introduction Windows and each requires a small bit of sources while your personal computer is running.
The easiest way to review and than to handle startups is to work with one of the many little resources available (see the Bc list of free applications). You can use its startup tool that lists startups and enables you to turn off any you do not need, if, for instance, you have Spybot Search and Destroy. Remember that BC maintains a quite comprehensive Startup Database that contains info about whether the item is required, discretionary, or unnecessary, if you’re uncertain about what could be safely deleted.
At-the same time, remember that those icons on your own Desktop also take a small number of boot time to put themselves.
Lack of Upkeep
Step 5. Delete unused applications and transfer old files to your CD. Unplayed games, lots of family pictures, zipped files which you have previously opened, applications you have not found in two years, software for the old printer you put away last year—these are a few examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for sophisticated users: some professionals would comprise the added upkeep stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and you’ll find plenty of apps to help do that. For the most part, so this measure is not included, you can do serious damage by creating registry modifications, registry care won’t make a significant difference, and unless you are quite comfy with Windows, and carefully make backups of the registry
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Stop: C0000135 The Program.
Action 7. Defragment your personal computer. Windows tends to put new documents in any available open space; defragging will place associated sections of files closer together therefore your read arm has less travelling around the hdd to do, saving wear and tear while speeding up applications.
Hopefully, now that you have have finished, you’ll see a noticeable enhancement in computer performance.
