Malware
Perhaps the most important factor to a badly performing computer is malware. Often this is associated with downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security options high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security areas in a timely manner.
Action 1. Update the explanations of your anti virus and operate a complete scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some viruses require extra steps until they may be removed; generally a internet search will locate specific instructions or a special removal tool. Use the BC forums to request support, if you fail to find a solution.
Step 2. You have recently saved an application, and if the slowness is sudden, the issue may dwell there. Check this by entirely removing it. A sensible user will generally perform a web search about the program before getting because in most cases, any potential trouble with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can radically effect your computer’s functionality, and these are throughout the Net. A very recent research showed that one out of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one piece of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Seasoned users will consistently run 2 or 3 of these applications, because each company has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own set. Uncontrolled Applications

At the same time, remember that all those icons on your Desktop also take a small number of boot time to put themselves.
Lack of Maintenance
Step 5. Clean up your hard drive (preparation for Step 7). Delete unused programs and move old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files which you have opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for that old printer you put away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to remove temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for sophisticated users: some professionals would include the additional upkeep step of cleaning the Windows registry, and you’ll find plenty of apps to assist do this. For the most part, so this measure is not included, you can do significant damage by making registry modifications, registry care will not make a significant difference, and unless you are very comfy with Windows, and carefully make backups of-the registry
Step 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it mend Runtime Error 221.
Stage 7. Defragment your personal computer.
