I am publishing a summary checklist of basic steps you can take to resolve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient maintenance, because several readers come up with their computer responding slowly.
Perhaps the greatest contributor to a badly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading an application that contains spyware, by not having browser security options high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security areas in a timely manner.
Stage 1. Revise the definitions of your anti virus and run a complete scan of your hard drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Note that some viruses need extra measures until they can be removed; generally a internet search will locate specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the BC forums to obtain help, if you cannot find a solution.
2. You’ve recently saved an application, and if the slowness is unexpected, the problem may reside there. Test this by completely eliminating it. A user will usually perform a websearch about the program before getting because in most cases, any possible problem with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Action three. Adware and Spyware can radically impact your computer’s performance, and these are around the Net.
Seasoned users will routinely operate 2 or 3 of the applications, because each business has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own set. Step 7. Defragment your personal computer. Windows will set new files in any available open space; defragging will set affiliated sections of files closer together so your read arm has less going around the hdd to do, saving wear and tear while racing up applications.
