Malware
Possibly the greatest contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware.
Step 1. Update the explanations of your anti-virus and operate a full scan of your hard drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Note that some viruses require extra measures before they may be removed; generally a web search will locate specific directions or a particular removal tool. If you cannot find a solution, use the BC forums to request support.
Step 2. If the sluggishness is unexpected, and you have recently saved an application, the issue might dwell there. Test this by entirely removing it. A sensible user will generally perform a web search about the program before installing because in most instances, any possible difficulty with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Step three. Adware and Spyware can dramatically effect your personal computer’s operation, and these are around the Web. A very recent study indicated that one out of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains feature at least one piece of spyware waiting for victims.
Seasoned customers will frequently run several of the applications, because each company has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own set. (A list of quite good, free anti spyware applications is provided by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.

Uncontrolled Applications
Stage 4. Evaluation applications that self-start on startup. You computer may be a battleground for your attention. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature that permits them to be opened promptly; other programs will include an automatic update feature that requires them to be running in the background. Each of these decreases your debut Windows and each requires a little bit of assets while your personal computer is running.
If, for instance, you have Spybot Search and Destroy, you can use its startup tool that lists startups and lets you to show off any you do not want. If you are unsure about what can be safely removed, remember that Bc maintains a very complete Startup Database that contains information about whether the item is required, discretionary, or unnecessary.
At the same time, remember that all those icons in your Background also take a small amount of trunk time to place themselves.
Absence of Care
Stage 5. Delete unused applications and exchange old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files that you have opened, applications you have not found in two years, software for the old printer you put away last year—these are some types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for sophisticated users: some professionals would comprise the added maintenance stage of cleaning the Windows registry, and you will find several applications to assist try this. For the most part, so this measure isn’t contained, you may do severe harm by making registry changes, registry maintenance will not make a critical difference, and unless you are quite comfy with Windows, and cautiously make backups of-the registry
Step 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it mend Os Error 126.
Step 7. Defragment your personal computer.
