I am posting a summary listing of basic steps you can take to solve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient care, because several readers write about their computer reacting slowly.
Possibly the greatest factor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading a software that includes spyware, by not having browser security options large enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security patches in a timely manner.
Action 1. Update the definitions of your anti-virus and operate a complete scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some infections need extra steps until they can be removed; normally a web search will find specific directions or a special removal tool. Use the Bc forums to obtain help, if you fail to find a solution.
Step 2. You’ve recently downloaded an application, and if the slowness is unanticipated, the problem may live there. Test this by completely eliminating it. A smart user will typically perform a websearch about the application before installing because in most cases, any possible issue with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Step three. Adware and Spyware can drastically effect your personal computer’s operation, and these are around the World wide web.
Experienced customers will regularly run several of these programs, because each company has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own established. Step 4. Review programs that self-start on startup. You pc can become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature which permits them to be exposed quickly; other programs may contain an automatic update feature that requires them to be working in the background. Each of these slows down your introduction Windows and each needs a little bit of assets while your computer is running.

Step 5. Delete unused applications and exchange old files to your CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files that you have previously opened, applications you have not used in two years, software for the old printer you put away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for higher level users: some professionals would include the additional maintenance stage of cleaning the Windows registry, and you’ll find several programs to assist do this. For the most part, so this measure isn’t included, you may do severe harm by creating registry changes, registry maintenance won’t make a critical difference, and unless you are really comfortable with Windows, and cautiously make copies of the registry
Stage 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it repair Microsoft Downloads Free.
Action 7. Defragment your personal computer.
