Possibly the most important contributor to a badly performing computer is malware.
Stage 1. Update the definitions of your antivirus and run a full scan of your drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable problems. Note that some viruses require additional measures until they may be removed; generally a web search will find specific directions or a special removal tool.
