I’m submitting a summary record of basic steps you can take to resolve this issue, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient maintenance, because several readers come up with their computer responding slowly.
Perhaps the most important contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Update the definitions of your anti-virus and operate a full scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable problems. Note that some infections require additional measures until they may be removed; ordinarily a internet search will find specific instructions or a particular removal tool. If you cannot find a solution, use the Bc forums to request support.
Step 2. You have recently saved an application, and if the sluggishness is sudden, the problem may dwell there. Check this by totally removing it. A user will normally perform a web search about the application before downloading it because in most instances, any possible difficulty with malware or inferior performance will have appeared.
Stage 3. Adware and Spyware can radically impact your personal computer’s performance, and these are throughout the Internet. A very recent study showed that one out-of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one piece of spyware waiting for victims.
Experienced customers will routinely run 2 or 3 of these programs, because each company has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own established. (A record of really great, free anti-spyware programs is given by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
For further reading about Malicious software and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the programs have really good Help documents that clarify how they work as well as the unique attributes of each.
Step 4. Evaluation apps that self-launch on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for example, install a quick-launch feature that permits them to be opened rapidly; other programs may include an automatic update feature that requires them to be operating in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each requires a small bit of resources while your computer is running.
The simplest method to review and than to manage startups will be to use one of the many small resources available (see the BC list of free apps). In case you are uncertain about what can be safely deleted, remember that Bc maintains a very complete Startup Database that contains information about whether the questioned item is required, elective, or not needed.
At the same time, remember that those icons in your Background also take a small number of trunk time to put themselves.
Lack of Care
Stage 5. Delete unused applications and transfer old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files that you have previously opened, applications you haven’t found in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to remove temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for advanced level users: some professionals would contain the added maintenance stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and you’ll find several programs to help do this. For the most part, registry maintenance won’t make a significant difference, and unless you are very comfy with Windows, and cautiously make backups of the registry, you can do severe harm by creating registry modifications, so this measure is not included
Stage 6. Have it repair Error 1334 Half-life 2.
Action 7. Defragment your pc.
Hopefully, now that you have have concluded, you’ll find a noticeable improvement in computer functionality.
