I am posting a summary listing of general steps you can take to solve this issue, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care, because many readers come up with their computer responding slowly.
Malware
Perhaps the most important factor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Usually this is associated with downloading an application that contains spyware, by not having browser security settings high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security areas in a timely manner.
Step 1. Revise the explanations of your anti-virus and run a complete scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some viruses require additional measures before they can be removed; normally a websearch will locate specific instructions or a special removal tool. If you cannot find a solution, use the BC forums to request help.
Step Two. If the slowness is abrupt, and you have recently saved an application, the problem might live there. Test this by fully removing it. A user will usually perform a websearch about the application before downloading it because in most cases, any potential difficulty with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can drastically effect your computer’s functionality, and these are throughout the Web. A very recent research indicated that one out of every 20 executable files on Web sites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one piece of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Revise the definitions of your anti spyware applications and scan your hard drives in Safe Mode. Experienced users will frequently operate several of these programs, because each company has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own set. (A record of quite good, free anti spyware applications is provided by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before continuing to the next step.
For additional reading about Malware and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the applications have really great Help files that describe how they work also as the unique attributes of each.
Uncontrolled Applications
Step 4. Review programs that self-launch on startup. You computer can become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for instance, install a quick-start feature which enables them to be exposed swiftly; other programs will include an automatic update feature that demands them to be running in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each needs a little bit of resources while your personal computer is running.
In case you are unsure about what can be safely removed, remember that BC maintains a quite complete Startup Database that contains info about whether the item is needed, discretionary, or not needed.
At the same time, remember that those icons on your own Background also take a modest amount of trunk time to set themselves.
Absence of Care
Stage 5. Clean up your hard drive (preparation for Step 7). Delete unused applications and exchange old files into a CD. Unplayed games, lots of family pictures, zipped files which you have already opened, applications you have not used in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are some types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for sophisticated users: some specialists would comprise the additional care stage of cleaning the Windows registry, and there are plenty of apps to help do this. For the most part, so this measure is not contained, you can do serious damage by creating registry changes, registry maintenance won’t make a vital difference, and unless you are really comfortable with Windows, and cautiously make backups of-the registry
Step 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Camino Browser.
Stage 7. Defragment your computer.
Hopefully, since you have have ended, you will find a marked improvement in pc functionality.
