Maybe the most important factor to a poorly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Revise the definitions of your anti virus and operate a complete scan of your drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable issues. Note that some infections need additional steps until they can be removed; typically a web search will find specific directions or a particular removal tool. Step 2. If the sluggishness is surprising, and you have recently downloaded an application, the issue might reside there. Test this by entirely removing it. A sensible user will typically perform a web search about the application before getting because in most cases, any possible difficulty with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
