Because several readers come up with their computer reacting slowly, I’m publishing a summary record of general things you can do to resolve the The Operation Does Not Require Anyissue, and briefly discussing the three most frequent causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care.
Perhaps the most important factor to a badly performing computer is malware.
Stage 1. Update the definitions of your anti-virus and run a full scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Notice that some infections need additional measures until they could be removed; typically a websearch will find specific directions or a special removal tool. Use the BC forums to obtain support, if you can’t find a solution.
Step 2. If the slowness is abrupt, and you have recently saved an application, the issue might live there. Test this by totally removing it. A smart user will typically perform a websearch about the program before downloading it because in most instances, any potential trouble with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Action three. Adware and Spyware can drastically impact your personal computer’s functionality, and these are throughout the Web. A very recent research indicated that one out-of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one bit of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Update the explanations of your antispyware applications and scan your hard drives in Safe Mode. Experienced users will often run two or three of the programs, because each company has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own established. (A list of very good, free antispyware applications is provided by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next step.
Stage 4. Evaluation applications that self-launching on startup. You pc can become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for instance, install a rapid-start feature which enables them to be exposed promptly; other programs may comprise an automatic update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Each of these slows down your launch Windows and each needs a little bit of resources while your personal computer is running.
The easiest approach to review and than to manage startups will be to use one of many small resources available (see the Bc list of free apps). Remember that Bc maintains a quite comprehensive Startup Database that includes information about whether the item is required, elective, or unnecessary, if you are unsure about what could be safely deleted.
At-the same time, remember that those symbols on your own Desktop also take a modest amount of boot time to put themselves.
Lack of Care
Stage 5. Clean up your hard drive (preparation for Stage 7). Delete unused applications and move old files to your CD. Unplayed games, lots of family pictures, zipped files that you have already opened, applications you have not used in two years, software for the old printer you put away last year—these are some examples of files you can delete.
(Note for advanced level users: some professionals would include the additional maintenance step of cleaning the Windows registry, and there are plenty of programs to assist do this. For the most part, registry care won’t make a significant difference, and unless you are very comfortable with Windows, and carefully make copies of-the registry, you may do severe damage by creating registry modifications, so this step isn’t contained
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it repair The Operation Does Not Require Any.
