Perhaps the most important factor to a badly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Update the explanations of your anti virus and run a complete scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable issues. Notice that some infections need extra steps until they could be removed; generally a websearch will find specific directions or a particular removal tool. Use the Bc forums to request assistance, if you can’t find a solution.
2. You have recently downloaded an application, and if the sluggishness is abrupt, the issue might reside there. Check this by fully removing it. A wise user will normally perform a websearch about the program before downloading it because in most cases, any potential problem with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can drastically effect your computer’s functionality, and these are throughout the Net.
Revise the definitions of your anti spyware programs and scan your hard drives in Safe Mode. Experienced users will consistently run two or three of the applications, because each company has its own criteria for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own set. (A list of quite good, free antispyware applications is given by BC). Again, solve any open issues before continuing to the next step.
Stage 4. Evaluation programs that self-launch on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your consideration. Many programs, for example, install a quick-start feature that enables them to be exposed promptly; other programs may contain an automatic update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each needs a little bit of resources while your computer is running.
The simplest way to examine and than to manage start ups would be to utilize one of the many little resources available (see the BC list of free applications). If you are uncertain about what can be safely deleted, remember that Bc maintains a very complete Startup Database that contains information about whether the item is needed, optional, or not needed.
At-the same time, remember that those symbols on your own Desktop also take a modest number of trunk time to set themselves.
Lack of Maintenance
Stage 5. Delete unused applications and exchange old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files that you have already opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for the old printer you put away last year—these are some types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for higher level users: some specialists would contain the additional maintenance stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and there are several programs to help do this. For the most part, registry care will not make a major difference, and unless you’re quite comfortable with Windows, and carefully make copies of the registry, you may do severe damage by making registry modifications, so this measure is not included
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it repair Pier One Registry.
Step 7. Defragment your personal computer.
Hopefully, now that you have have ended, you’ll find a marked enhancement in computer functionality.
