I am posting a summary record of general steps you can take to resolve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most frequent causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care, because many readers come up with their computer reacting slowly.
Malware
Possibly the greatest contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Often this is associated with downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security settings large enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security patches in a timely manner.
Stage 1. Revise the definitions of your anti-virus and run a full scan of your hard drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable issues. Note that some infections need additional steps before they may be removed; generally a websearch will find specific instructions or a special removal tool. If you cannot find a solution, use the Bc forums to request support.
2. You have recently downloaded an application, and if the slowness is sudden, the issue might dwell there. Test this by fully removing it. A user will generally perform a internet search about the program before installing because in most cases, any possible trouble with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Stage three. Adware and Spyware can dramatically impact your computer’s performance, and these are throughout the World wide web. A very recent study showed that one out-of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains comprise at least one piece of spyware waiting for victims.
Experienced users will consistently operate several of these applications, because each business has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own set. (A set of really good, free antispyware programs is supplied by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next step.
For additional reading about Malware and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the applications have really good Help files that describe how they operate as well as the special attributes of each.
Uncontrolled Applications
Step 4. Review programs that self-launching on startup. You pc may become a battleground for your interest. Many programs, for example, install a fast-launch feature which allows them to be opened fast; other programs will comprise an automatic update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Each of these decreases your introduction Windows and each requires a small bit of assets while your computer is running.
You can use its startup tool that lists startups and enables you to turn off any you do not want, if, for example, you have Spybot Search and Destroy. If you are unsure about what can be safely deleted, remember that Bc maintains a very complete Startup Database that contains info about whether the item is required, elective, or unnecessary.
At the same time, remember that all those symbols on your Desktop also take a modest amount of boot time to place themselves.
Absence of Care
Step 5. Cleanup your hard drive (preparation for Action 7). Delete unused programs and exchange old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files which you have previously opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for that old printer you put away last year—these are a few examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to remove temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for advanced level users: some experts would comprise the added maintenance stage of cleaning the Windows registry, and you’ll find several programs to help do that. For the most part, so this step isn’t contained, you can do significant damage by creating registry changes, registry maintenance will not make a critical difference, and unless you are very comfy with Windows, and carefully make copies of-the registry
Stage 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it mend Error Number: 0x8024402c Xp.
Stage 7. Defragment your personal computer. Windows tends to set new documents in any available open space; defragging will place related sections of files closer together so your read arm has less travelling around the hard drive to do, saving wear-and tear while boosting up plans.
Hopefully, since you have have finished, you will see a marked enhancement in computer performance.
