Because several readers come up with their computer reacting slowly, I am submitting a summary record of general things you can do to resolve the Error Code 0143problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care.
Possibly the most important contributor to a badly performing computer is malware. Usually this is associated with downloading an application that includes spyware, by not having browser security options high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security areas regularly.
Stage 1. Update the definitions of your anti virus and run a full scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Note that some viruses require extra steps before they can be removed; normally a websearch will find specific instructions or a particular removal tool. Use the BC forums to request help, if you fail to find a solution.
Step 2. If the sluggishness is sudden, and you’ve recently downloaded an application, the issue might reside there. Test this by fully eliminating it. A user will normally perform a web search about the application before getting because in most cases, any possible trouble with malware or poor performance will have surfaced.
Action 3. Adware and Spyware can radically effect your personal computer’s performance, and these are all over the World wide web. A very recent study showed that one out of every 20 executable files on Web sites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one bit of spyware waiting for victims.
Revise the explanations of your anti-spyware programs and check your hard drives in Safe Mode. Experienced customers will routinely operate two or three of the programs, because each company has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own established. (A record of very great, free anti-spyware applications is given by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
Stage 4. Evaluation programs that self-start on startup. You pc may be a battleground for your consideration. Many programs, for instance, install a fast-start feature which enables them to be exposed rapidly; other programs will contain an automated update feature that demands them to be running in the background. Each of these slows down your launch Windows and each requires a little bit of resources while your personal computer is running.
The simplest method to examine and than to manage startups would be to use one of many small utilities available (see the BC list of free programs). If, for example, you have Spybot Search and Destroy, you may use its startup tool that lists startups and lets you to show off any you usually do not need. Remember that Bc maintains a very comprehensive Startup Database that contains info about whether the inquired item is required, optional, or not needed, if you’re unsure about what could be safely deleted.
At the same time, remember that those icons in your Background also take a modest number of trunk time to place themselves.
Lack of Upkeep
Stage 5. Clean-up your hard drive (preparation for Stage 7). Delete unused applications and exchange old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files which you have previously opened, applications you have not found in two years, software for the old printer you threw away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete.
(Note for advanced users: some professionals would contain the additional care step of cleaning the Windows registry, and there are plenty of apps to assist do this. For the most part, registry care will not make a vital difference, and unless you’re really comfy with Windows, and carefully make copies of the registry, you may do serious damage by creating registry changes, so this measure is not included
Stage 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix Error Code 0143.
Stage 7. Defragment your computer. Windows will put new documents in any available open space; defragging will set related segments of files closer together therefore your read arm has less travelling around the hard drive to do, saving wear-and tear while speeding up programs.
Hopefully, now that you have have concluded, you will see a noticeable improvement in computer operation.
