Because several readers write about their computer responding slowly, I am publishing a summary checklist of basic things you can do to resolve the Error 1500 Vistaissue, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of maintenance.
Malware
Perhaps the greatest factor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading an application that contains spyware, by not having browser security options large enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security areas regularly.
Action 1. Update the definitions of your anti virus and run a complete scan of your hard drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable problems. Note that some viruses require extra steps until they may be removed; typically a websearch will locate specific instructions or a special removal tool. Use the Bc forums to request assistance, if you can’t find a answer.
Step Two. You’ve recently saved an application, and if the sluggishness is surprising, the problem may rest there. Check this by totally removing it. A user will typically perform a websearch about the application before getting because in most instances, any potential trouble with malware or poor performance will have surfaced.
Action three. Adware and Spyware can dramatically impact your computer’s performance, and these are around the Internet. A very recent research indicated that one out of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains comprise at least one piece of spyware waiting for sufferers.
Experienced customers will often run 2 or 3 of the applications, because each business has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own established. (A list of quite great, free antispyware applications is supplied by BC). Again, solve any open issues before proceeding to the next step.
Uncontrolled Applications
Stage 4. Evaluation applications that self-start on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your attention. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature that permits them to be exposed rapidly; other programs will comprise an automatic update feature that requires them to be operating in the background. Each of these slows down your launch Windows and each requires a little bit of sources while your personal computer is running.
The easiest method to review and than to manage start ups would be to utilize one of the many small resources available (see the Bc list of free apps). Remember that BC maintains a quite complete Startup Database that includes information about whether the questioned item is needed, discretionary, or unnecessary, if you’re unsure about what can be safely deleted.
At the same time, remember that those icons on your own Desktop also take a small number of trunk time to place themselves.
Lack of Maintenance
Step 5. Delete unused applications and move old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files which you have previously opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are a few examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for high level users: some professionals would include the added care stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and you’ll find plenty of apps to help do this. For the most part, so this step is not contained, you may do severe damage by creating registry changes, registry maintenance will not make a vital difference, and unless you’re quite comfortable with Windows, and carefully make copies of the registry
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it mend Error 1500 Vista.
Step 7. Defragment your computer.
Hopefully, since you have have ended, you’ll see a marked enhancement in pc performance.
