I am posting a summary checklist of general things you can do to solve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient maintenance, because several readers come up with their computer reacting slowly.
Malware
Possibly the greatest contributor to a badly performing computer is malware.
Action 1. Revise the explanations of your anti virus and operate a full scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable issues. Notice that some infections need extra measures before they could be removed; ordinarily a internet search will find specific instructions or a special removal tool. If you can’t find a solution, use the BC forums to request assistance.
Step 2. If the sluggishness is abrupt, and you’ve recently saved an application, the issue might rest there. Test this by completely eliminating it. A wise user will normally perform a websearch about the application before installing because in most cases, any potential trouble with malware or inferior performance will have surfaced.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can radically effect your computer’s functionality, and these are around the Net.
Experienced customers will routinely run 2 or 3 of the applications, because each business has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own set. (A record of really great, free anti-spyware programs is provided by BC). Again, solve any open issues before continuing to the next phase.
Uncontrolled Applications
Stage 4. Review programs that self-start on startup. You pc can become a battleground for your consideration. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature which permits them to be opened rapidly; other programs may contain an automatic update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Each of these slows down your launch Windows and each requires a small bit of resources while your computer is running.
If, for instance, you have Spybot Search and Destroy, you may use its startup tool that lists startups and allows you to turn off any you usually do not need. Remember that BC maintains a quite complete Startup Database that includes information about whether the inquired item is needed, elective, or not needed, in case you are uncertain about what may be safely removed.
At the same time, remember that all those symbols on your own Background also take a modest amount of boot time to put themselves.
Absence of Maintenance
Step 5. Delete unused programs and exchange old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files that you have opened, applications you have not found in two years, software for that old printer you put away last year—these are some examples of files you can delete.
(Note for advanced level users: some specialists would include the added upkeep stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and there are plenty of apps to help try this. For the most part, so this measure isn’t included, you may do serious harm by making registry modifications, registry care will not make a critical difference, and unless you’re very comfy with Windows, and cautiously make copies of-the registry
Action 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it repair Error 1309 Microsoft Office.
Stage 7. Defragment your personal computer.
Hopefully, now that you have have finished, you will see a marked enhancement in pc functionality.
