Because many readers come up with their computer responding slowly, I am publishing a summary record of basic things you can do to resolve the 8531 (0x2153)problem, and briefly discussing the three most common causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient maintenance.
Malware
Maybe the greatest contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security options large enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security patches in a timely manner.
Step 1. Update the explanations of your anti virus and run a full scan of your hard disk in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable issues. Notice that some viruses need extra measures before they could be removed; usually a websearch will locate specific directions or a special removal tool. If you fail to find a solution, use the BC forums to request help.
Step 2. You’ve recently downloaded an application, and if the slowness is abrupt, the issue may rest there. Test this by completely removing it. A sensible user will typically perform a web search about the program before getting because in most instances, any possible problem with malware or inferior performance will have appeared.
Stage 3. Adware and Spyware can drastically impact your personal computer’s operation, and these are throughout the World wide web.
Revise the definitions of your antispyware programs and check your hard drives in Safe Mode. Seasoned users will regularly operate several of these programs, because each business has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will only search against their own established. (Note for higher level users: some specialists would contain the additional care step of cleaning the Windows registry, and you’ll find several applications to assist try this.
