Malware
Maybe the greatest contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Often this is related to downloading a software that includes spyware, by not having browser security settings high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security sections in a timely manner.
Step 1. Revise the definitions of your anti-virus and operate a complete scan of your drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable problems. Note that some infections need extra steps until they can be removed; usually a web search will locate specific instructions or a particular removal tool. If you can’t find a answer, use the Bc forums to request help.
Step Two. You’ve recently downloaded an application, and if the sluggishness is unexpected, the problem may live there. Check this by completely removing it. A user will usually perform a websearch about the program before installing because in most cases, any potential difficulty with malware or inferior performance will have appeared.
Stage three. Adware and Spyware can radically effect your computer’s functionality, and these are all over the World wide web. A very recent study showed that one out-of every 20 executable files on Websites is spyware, and 1 in 25 domains include at least one piece of spyware waiting for victims.
Revise the definitions of your anti spyware applications and check your hard drives in Safe Mode. Seasoned users will consistently operate several of these applications, because each company has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own established. (A record of really good, free anti spyware programs is provided by BC). Again, solve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
For additional reading about Malware and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the programs have very good Help documents that describe how they work also as the unique attributes of each.
Uncontrolled Applications
Step 4. Evaluation programs that self-start on startup. You computer can be a battleground for your attention. Many programs, for example, install a fast-launch feature that allows them to be exposed quickly; other programs will include an automatic update feature that requires them to be running in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each requires a small bit of assets while your computer is running.
The easiest way to review and than to handle startups would be to-use one of many little utilities available (see the Bc list of free applications). You may use its startup tool that lists startups and enables you to turn off any you usually do not need, if, like, you have Spybot Search and Destroy. Remember that BC maintains a very complete Startup Database that includes information about whether the item is needed, elective, or unnecessary, if you are uncertain about what could be safely deleted.
At the same time, remember that all those symbols on your Background also take a modest number of trunk time to put themselves.
Absence of Maintenance
Step 5. Clean-up your hard drive (preparation for Stage 7). Delete unused programs and exchange old files to your CD. Unplayed games, lots of family images, zipped files that you have opened, applications you haven’t found in two years, software for the old printer you threw away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to delete temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for sophisticated users: some experts would comprise the added upkeep stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and there are plenty of apps to help do this. For the most part, registry maintenance will not make a vital difference, and unless you are really comfortable with Windows, and carefully make backups of-the registry, you can do significant damage by making registry modifications, so this step isn’t contained
Step 6. Run scandisk / checkdisk in Safe Mode. Have it fix 81000008 Error.
Action 7. Defragment your personal computer.
Hopefully, since you have have ended, you will see a noticeable enhancement in pc operation.
