Because several readers reveal their computer responding slowly, I am posting a summary listing of general steps you can take to resolve the 0x3bdcproblem, and briefly discussing the three most frequent causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and insufficient care.
Malware
Possibly the greatest contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Usually this is associated with downloading an application that includes spyware, by not having browser security settings high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by failing to install security patches in a timely manner.
Step 1. Update the definitions of your antivirus and operate a full scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Solve any unfixable issues. Note that some viruses require additional steps until they can be removed; typically a internet search will find specific instructions or a special removal tool. If you cannot find a solution, use the Bc forums to obtain support.
2. You have recently saved an application, and if the sluggishness is abrupt, the problem may dwell there. Check this by entirely removing it. A wise user will normally perform a web search about the application before getting because in most instances, any possible issue with malware or poor performance will have surfaced.
Step three. Adware and Spyware can radically impact your personal computer’s operation, and these are around the Web.
Revise the explanations of your anti spyware applications and scan your hard drives in Safe Mode. Seasoned users will frequently run 2 or 3 of the programs, because each company has its own standards for what constitutes spyware and will just search against their own established. (A list of quite great, free antispyware programs is given by BC). Again, solve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
For further reading about Malicious software and some malware removal applications, use BC’s Tutorial section; most of the applications have quite good Help files that describe how they operate too as the special characteristics of each.
Uncontrolled Applications
Stage 4. Evaluation apps that self-start on startup. You pc can be a battleground for your consideration. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature which allows them to be exposed instantly; other programs may include an automatic update feature that demands them to be running in the background. Each of these slows down your introduction Windows and each needs a small bit of sources while your computer is running.
The simplest way to examine and than to manage start ups will be to work with one of many small resources available (see the BC list of free applications). If you are uncertain about what can be safely removed, remember that Bc maintains a very comprehensive Startup Database that includes info about whether the questioned item is needed, elective, or unnecessary.
At the same time, remember that those icons on your Background also take a modest amount of trunk time to place themselves.
Absence of Upkeep
Step 5. Delete unused applications and move old files to a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family pictures, zipped files that you have already opened, applications you have not used in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are some examples of files you can delete. Then use Window’s Disk Clean-up to remove temporary internet files, temporary PC health files, etc.
(Note for high level users: some experts would comprise the added maintenance stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and you will find plenty of apps to assist do that. For the most part, registry maintenance will not make a critical difference, and unless you are very comfy with Windows, and cautiously make backups of the registry, you may do serious damage by making registry changes, so this measure isn’t contained
Stage 6. Have it mend 0x3bdc.
Action 7. Defragment your computer.
Hopefully, since you have have finished, you will see a marked improvement in pc functionality.
