I’m publishing a summary record of basic things you can do to solve this problem, and briefly discussing the three most frequent causes : malware, uncontrolled applications, and lack of care, because many readers reveal their computer reacting slowly.
Malware
Perhaps the most important contributor to a poorly performing computer is malware. Usually this is associated with downloading a software that contains spyware, by not having browser security options high enough, by carelessly downloading P2P files, or by declining to install security patches regularly.
Stage 1. Revise the definitions of your anti virus and run a complete scan of your hard disk drive in Safe Mode. Resolve any unfixable problems. Note that some infections require additional steps before they can be removed; usually a internet search will locate specific directions or a special removal tool. Use the BC forums to request support, if you cannot find a answer.
Step 2. If the sluggishness is sudden, and you have recently saved an application, the problem may dwell there. Check this by entirely removing it. A user will generally perform a websearch about the application before getting because in most cases, any potential difficulty with malware or poor performance will have appeared.
Step 3. Adware and Spyware can radically impact your personal computer’s functionality, and these are around the Net.
Seasoned customers will frequently operate 2 or 3 of the applications, because each business has its own requirements for what constitutes spyware and will simply search against their own set. (A listing of really good, free antispyware applications is provided by BC). Again, resolve any open issues before proceeding to the next phase.
Uncontrolled Applications
Step 4. Evaluation apps that self-launching on startup. You computer may become a battleground for your consideration. Many programs, for example, install a fast-start feature that enables them to be opened immediately; other programs may contain an automated update feature that demands them to be operating in the background. Your launching Windows are slowed down by each of these and each needs a little bit of resources while your personal computer is running.
Remember that Bc maintains a very comprehensive Startup Database that contains information about whether the questioned item is needed, optional, or unnecessary, if you’re unsure about what may be safely removed.
At the same time, remember that all those icons on your Desktop also take a small amount of trunk time to place themselves.
Absence of Maintenance
Stage 5. Delete unused programs and exchange old files into a CD. Unplayed games, tons of family images, zipped files which you have already opened, applications you haven’t used in two years, software for that old printer you threw away last year—these are a few types of files you can delete.
(Note for higher level users: some specialists would comprise the added maintenance stage of cleaning up the Windows registry, and you’ll find several applications to help do this. For the most part, registry care will not make a significant difference, and unless you are very comfortable with Windows, and cautiously make backups of the registry, you can do serious harm by making registry modifications, so this measure isn’t included
Action 6. Have it fix 0x00001653.
Step 7. Defragment your personal computer. Windows tends to put new files in any available open space; defragging will set affiliated sections of files closer together so your read arm has less going around the hard drive to do, saving wear and tear while racing up plans.
Hopefully, now that you have have ended, you’ll see a noticeable enhancement in computer operation.
